On July 2, 2019, former Tetu Member of Parliament Ndung'u Githinji allegedly created disturbance by interfering with renovations at a house belonging to Kisorkumar Dhanji Varsani in Kihingo Village, Kitisuru, Nairobi.

According to the court, Mr. Githinji, along with Chacha Mbanga and Frankline Mutegi, was charged with creating disturbance, assault, causing actual bodily harm, and malicious damage to property.

Mr. Mutegi faced additional counts of allegedly assaulting city lawyer George Wajackoyah and his client Kisorkumar Dhanji Varsani, as well as malicious damage to Varsani's sweater valued at Ksh.1000.

Appearing before Nairobi Magistrate Stella Mutuku, the three suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecution, through Duncan Ondimu, opposed their release on bail, citing Mr. Githinji's influence as Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Defense and Foreign Relations, which could interfere with witnesses.

Despite the opposition, the three were released on a cash bail of Ksh.50,000 or an alternative bond of Ksh.100,000 each.

The case was set for mentioning on July 14, 2019.
