Published on July 3, 2019, Atletico Madrid's £113m transfer of Joao Felix has set a new record in the football world.

The Spanish club outbid Manchester United and Manchester City to secure the signing of the 19-year-old Portuguese star, who has been likened to Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to reports, Atletico Madrid agreed to pay £5m more than Felix's £108m release clause, with the fee to be paid in installments rather than upfront.

Joao Felix has signed a seven-year deal with Atletico Madrid, taking over the vacant No.7 jersey previously worn by Antoine Griezmann.

He joins Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera at the Wanda Metropolitano, who arrived from FC Porto.
