Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants Gor Mahia have suffered a blow after Rwandan midfielder Djabel Imanishimwe joined Rwanda's Armée Patriotique (APR) despite being in talks with the Kenyan club.
On June 30, Rayon Sports, the Rwandan club, announced on Twitter that they had agreed with Gor Mahia on the transfer of the 21-year-old midfielder, who was set to replace Francis Kahata.
However, the situation has taken a twist after the midfielder was spotted training with APR, ahead of the Cecafa tournament set to kick off on July 5 in Kigali, Rwanda.
It has also emerged that Gor Mahia's CEO, Lordvick Aduda, had already paid the player a signing fee of KSh 900,000, which is part of a KSh 3 million deal that the club was set to pay for his services.
This is not the first time the player has turned down an offer from a Kenyan club, having previously been in talks with AFC Leopards in 2016.
"We have agreed with Gor Mahia on the transfer of Djabel Imanishimwe. We wish him well and thank him for his service," Rayon Sports tweeted.
