On September 7, 2021, Law Society of Kenya president Nelson Havi announced his decision to exit the organization, stating that he had accomplished enough in his tenure.
According to Havi, the society will comprise an electoral board and will approve the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to administer the LSK elections in 2022.
"With over 20 judgments against the government, advisory for the dissolution of Parliament, and the stop of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), we have done enough," Havi said in a tweet announcing his exit.
As part of his last assignment, Havi will administer the LSK Special General Meeting (SGM) on September 24, 2021.
He added that the society will constitute the Elections Board and approve IEBC to conduct elections on March 17, 2022.
Nelson Havi was elected as the LSK president on February 27, 2020, defeating three other candidates, including Harriette Chiggai, Maria Mbeneka, and Charles Kanjama.
His two-year term was set to expire, and he has now announced his readiness to exit the organization.
