Swiss Footballer Florijana Ismaili's Body Found After Swimming Accident

On June 29, 2019, Swiss footballer Florijana Ismaili, 24, went missing after jumping into Lake Como in Italy from a boat during a swimming accident.

Italian rescue services conducted a three-day search operation, and on July 2, 2019, her body was finally retrieved at a depth of 204 meters.

Ismaili was the captain of the BSC Young Boys women's team and had made her international debut with Switzerland in 2014, earning 33 caps with the national team.

She had joined BSC Young Boys in 2011 from FC Walperswil.

Young Boys released a statement, saying, "We are very upset and deeply affected. Young Boys extends its sincere condolences to the family, relatives, and friends of Florijana Ismaili and wishes everyone all the strength and confidence in this difficult time."
