Published on July 3, 2019, a student from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Brian Kibet Bera, who was shot by police for attempting to enter State House in Nairobi illegally, has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta for forgiveness.

Bera was arraigned in court on July 3, 2019, and told the court that life in prison is very difficult and he will not commit the same offense again.

"Life in prison is very difficult, I have suffered a lot, I would like President Uhuru Kenyatta and Kenyans in general to forgive me because I will not commit the same offense again," Bera told the court.

On June 10, 2019, Bera was arrested while trying to enter State House in Nairobi with a knife.

He was shot by police officers who later took him to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment.

According to Daily Nation, the court ordered Bera to be taken to Mathari Hospital for treatment until he is declared fit.
