Kenya's national football team, Harambee Stars, will return home on Thursday morning after their disappointing campaign in the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
According to a statement by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the team will depart from Cairo on Wednesday, July 3, at 10:45 pm EAT and are expected to arrive in Nairobi on Thursday at 3:30 am.
Despite their efforts, Harambee Stars failed to secure a spot in the round of 16, registering a single win and two losses in their Group C matches.
They began their campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Algeria before staging a comeback to beat Tanzania 3-2. However, their campaign ended on a sour note with a 3-0 defeat to Senegal.
Stars will now shift their focus to their African Championship (CHAN) qualifier match against Tanzania scheduled for later this month.
During their time in Egypt, the team was treated to a luncheon by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed, who congratulated them for their efforts despite not securing an automatic spot in the round of 16.
