On July 2, 2019, Kenya's hopes of advancing to the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations were dashed after Cameroon played to a 0-0 draw with Benin in a Group F match at the Ismailia Stadium.
Kenya needed Cameroon to win and Angola to lose to Mali in order to secure a spot in the last 16, but the draw sealed their fate.
Benin secured a spot as one of the four best third-placed teams, but will have to wait to learn their next opponents.
Kenya's Harambee Stars had already complicated their chances of making it to the last 16 by losing 3-0 to Senegal in their final Group C match on July 1, 2019, at the 30 June Stadium.
Senegal's Liverpool star Sadio Mane scored twice, while Stade Rennais forward Ismaila Sarr opened the scoring in a 14-minute second half blitz.
Kenya will now return home to prepare for the upcoming African Nations Championships (Chan) qualifiers, where they will face Tanzania in a two-legged tie at the end of July 2019.
