On June 30, Rayon Sports announced that they had reached an agreement with Gor Mahia over the transfer of 21-year-old Rwandan midfielder Djable Imanishimwe, who was seen as a replacement for Francis Kahata.
However, in a shocking twist, Imanishimwe was later spotted training with APR, Rayon's arch-rivals, ahead of the Cecafa Kagame Cup, which kicked off on July 5 in Kigali, Rwanda.
According to reports, Gor Mahia CEO Lordvick Aduda had already paid Imanishimwe Ksh. 900,000 as part of his signing fee, which was part of a Ksh. 3 million deal.
It remains unclear what action Gor Mahia will take to recover the money they paid for the player, who has now joined APR.
Imanishimwe's decision to join APR comes after he turned down a switch to AFC Leopards in 2016, sparking questions about his loyalty to Kenyan clubs.
Rayon Sports had tweeted, 'We have reached an agreement for the transfer of Djabel Imanishimwe to @GormahiaLive We would like to wish Our Captain Djabel well as we say a fond goodbye.'
