On July 3, 2019, Kenyan city legislator Charles Njagua Kanyi, popularly known as Jaguar, was freed on Ksh500,000 ($5,000) cash bail after being charged with incitement.

Prosecutors alleged that the Starehe MP made utterances intended to incite Kenyans against foreign nationals living within the country.

The alleged offense took place on June 24 at Nyamakima within Nairobi County, and Njagua was arrested on June 26.

He appeared before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and denied the charges.

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) are set to testify against the legislator.
