On July 3, 2019, the Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) announced plans to launch women-friendly products to support women's participation in the agriculture value chain.

The move aims to address the challenge of limited access to finances, particularly for women and the youth, which has hindered their involvement in the agriculture sector.

AFC Board Chairperson Franklin Bett stated that the corporation is working to establish a bank that will provide cheap loans to farmers, boosting agricultural production in the country.

County governments have been urged to advocate for agriculture diversification and increase budgetary allocations to the agriculture sector.

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong noted that his government will prioritize marketing the facility to benefit farmers and sensitize them to invest in livestock and crop farming to boost food security.

AFC Managing Director Lucas Meso revealed plans to launch a women-friendly product to attract more farmers in the region and establish Islamic products to benefit from the corporation.
