Governor Mutua Assents to Ksh 12 Billion 2019 Machakos Budget

On July 3, 2019, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua assented to the 2019/20 budget proposal, marking a significant milestone in the county's development plans.

The budget, which will see the county absorb Ksh 12 billion in the next financial year, is a people's budget aimed at accelerating development and services to the people of Machakos.

Speaking during a brief ceremony held outside his office in Machakos, Governor Mutua emphasized that the budget is a critical step towards delivering critical development programs and creating mechanisms for trade and investments to thrive.

'This is a people's budget. This is a budget that is meant to accelerate development and services to wananchi. It is a budget that will see development and positive impact in every village in Machakos County,' Dr Mutua said.

He assured the county assembly and the people of Machakos County that the budget will be implemented properly for the benefit of all, and that the county will put in place creative measures to expand its revenue base with the aim of boosting the self-generated revenue kitty.

At the same time, Governor Mutua called on the Chief Justice to put in place measures to ensure court cases relating to corruption and theft of public resources are expedited.

Speaker Florence Mwangangi heaped praises on the budget, terming it 'progressive and people centered.'

'I thank the Machakos County Assembly and its leadership, led by the Speaker Hon. Florence Mwangangi, for passing the budget and which will certainly enable my government initiate the much needed development projects,' Governor Mutua said.
