Published on July 3, 2019, Harambee Stars are expected to return home on Thursday after a disappointing performance at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Football Kenya Federation has described the team's performance as 'disappointing', citing the concession of many goals.
FKF Chairman Nick Mwendwa has vowed to overhaul the team ahead of forthcoming international engagements.
'It (the performance) is disappointing because we conceded so many goals. That's maybe because we had two reliable defenders ruled out of action. We have not been letting in as many goals,' explained Mwendwa.
He added that the team has learned lessons and will work hard to become a better team, with the support of the government, they aim to qualify for the next Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.
Kenyan sports officials and players have thanked Kenyans for their support during the tournament.
CS Amina Mohammed and star forward Micheal Olunga expressed their gratitude, saying the team received supportive information from the media and fans back home.
Kenya won one of the three matches it played at the continental championship, but conceded seven goals in total.
