On August 24, 2020, Team Kenya marched past the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games opening ceremony in Japan, marking the country's 12th appearance in the Paralympics.
Leading the team is powerlifter Hellen Wawira, who served as the flag bearer alongside Team Captain Rodgers Kiprop. Wawira will be competing in the powerlifting 41kg and above category, aiming to propel Kenya to a golden start.
Kenya's Paralympic team is represented by nine athletes, including Wison Bii, who won a bronze medal in the 5000m – T11 event at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.
Kenya is looking to improve upon their Rio 2016 results, where they collected a total of six medals – 3 Gold, 1 Silver, and 2 Bronze.
