On August 12, 2021, a shocking incident unfolded in Kisumu East Sub-County, where three individuals, including two police officers, allegedly attempted to rob a local businessman.

Senior Sergeant Albert Kimutai, Constable Martin Murimi, and Mr Michael Ojwang are accused of approaching Mr Pravin Ramji Patel, a trader at Shell Shreeji filling station, while armed with an AK47 and a G3 gun.

According to court records, the trio threatened to use violence on Mr Patel before hastily leaving the scene and driving away towards Ahero in a car.

However, their plan was foiled when detectives from Kisumu arrested them in connection with the incident.

The three suspects denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Peter Gesora on Tuesday and were released on a Sh300,000 bond.

The case will be mentioned on September 7 and hearing set for September 14, with the prosecution lining up 10 witnesses.
