Kenya has recorded 1,166 new Covid-19 cases from 9,924 samples tested in the last 24 hours, as of August 24, 2021. This brings the national tally to 230,794.
The cumulative number of samples tested so far stands at 2,326,598, with a Covid-19 positivity rate of 11.8 per cent.
According to Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, the new cases comprise 1,144 Kenyans and 22 foreigners, with 616 females and 550 males. The youngest case is a two-month-old infant, while the oldest is 108 years old.
Of the new cases, 1,901 patients have recovered from the disease, with 202 from various health facilities countrywide and 1,699 from Home-Based Isolation and Care. The total number of recoveries now stands at 215,374.
Unfortunately, 36 more patients have succumbed to the virus, raising the death toll to 4,564.
There are currently 2,013 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 7,677 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
