On August 20, 2021, Huawei FusionSolar, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, introduced its complete integrated system for residential solar energy solutions at a launch event in Nairobi.

The home energy storage system (ESS) plays a crucial role in this unprecedented energy transition, allowing homeowners to store electricity as chemical energy and increase their self-consumption rate of solar energy.

At the event, Huawei Kenya CEO Will Meng highlighted the company's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and accelerating carbon neutrality in the countries it operates in.

“Indeed the concept of carbon neutrality is not new to us. At Huawei, we pride ourselves on working towards reducing our carbon footprint and accelerating carbon neutrality in the countries we operate in,” Meng said.

The LUNA 2000, a residential energy storage system (ESS), was officially launched at the event. This product meets the requirements of the Energy Act 2019 and can provide critical support during power outages or load shedding.

Chief guest Dr. Eng. Joseph Njoroge commended Huawei's new innovation, stating, “I am very delighted to witness this launch because I know it will be one of the sources of success to achieving our Vision2030 dream.”

With its smart string energy storage system LUNA2000, Huawei aims to increase the uptake of solar energy as a reliable, safe, and efficient renewable source of energy in Kenya.
