Published on August 24, 2021, a White House official stated that President Biden wants both the infrastructure bill and the budget blueprint on his desk.

However, some Democrats are skeptical, citing comments made by the President earlier this year calling for the infrastructure bill to be passed as quickly as possible.

Administration officials have been calling the nine moderate Democrats in recent days, including Labor Secretary Martin J. Walsh and Energy Secretary Jennifer M. Granholm, to allay their fears that President Biden would sign the larger spending bill without the infrastructure bill.

These officials have also voiced support for Speaker Pelosi's push to pass both bills by October 1, highlighting the benefits of the larger bill, including proposals to reduce the cost of prescription drugs.

Speaker Pelosi and her top deputies remain adamant that the infrastructure vote will happen only after the Senate approves the budget package.
