The suspects, both Kenyan citizens, were cornered by a team of anti-terror officers who had been tracking them. The two men were attempting to cross from the South Coast towards Kisiwani in Mombasa when they were apprehended.
During the arrest, police recovered two AK-47 rifles, assorted explosives, mobile phones, chargers, and a machete from the suspects' vehicle. The motive behind the suspects' actions is still under investigation.
