Published on August 23, 2021, StarTimes Media is set to broadcast the highly anticipated FIBA AfroBasket 2021 tournament, a 30th edition of the men's basketball continental championship.
The tournament is scheduled to take place between August 24 and September 5, 2021, in Kigali, Rwanda. Kenya's 'Team Morans' qualified for the premier basketball tournament after a 28-year wait, marking the fourth time the country will participate.
Speaking during the unveiling of the latest sports property on the StarTimes platform, Regional Marketing Director Mr. Aldrine Nsubuga noted that the broadcaster will air the action live and exclusively across three sports channels.
Mr. Nsubuga emphasized, 'We are calling upon Kenyans to rally behind 'Team Morans' as the team carries the country's high expectations, especially after beating African heavyweights Angola in their electrifying final qualifying match to earn a spot at the tournament.'
Kenya's 'Team Morans' is placed in Group C, where the team will face 2015 champions Nigeria, Cote D'Ivoire, and Mali in their quest to be crowned African champions.
The Group Phase of the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 tournament will take place from August 24 to 29, with the top team from each group automatically advancing to the Quarter-Finals.
'Team Morans' kick off their campaign on August 25 against Cote D'Ivoire at 10 pm, followed by a game against Nigeria on August 27 at 4 pm, and conclude their group fixtures against Mali on August 29 at 1 pm.
