Naivasha Member of Parliament Jane Kihara has lost millions worth of property and vehicles to auctioneers after failing to pay a debt owed to former MP John Mututho.

According to a court warrant issued on August 18, 2021, Kihara's movable property was seized to raise Sh. 10,988,786, which had accrued from a petition she lost against Mututho's election as Naivasha MP in 2008.

The court had authorized Tango Auctioneers and General Merchants to attach Kihara's property to recover the debt, which had been accumulating since 2016 when the court's commercial wing approved a Sh. 7.5 million cost order against her.

However, Kihara challenged the decision at the High Court, which upheld it in 2019. She was then granted leave to file an appeal out of time, but failed to do so, and also did not pay the half amount as ordered by Justice Joel Ngugi.

As a result, the court issued a directive for the seizure of her property, which included five luxury vehicles and other assets worth millions.
