Published on July 3, 2019, traders in Nairobi's Ngara area are raising concern over the high rate of pollution in Nairobi River.

The traders claim that the Nairobi County Government's failure to properly collect garbage has led to people dumping plastic bags and human waste in the river.

Wachira mtoto wa Wanjiru, a trader in the area, says the river has been abandoned for almost two years, affecting people in Ngara.

Wachira is now calling on the National Government to work with the city council to provide trucks to collect waste around Nairobi, which he believes will greatly impact the dirty river and improve hygiene.
