On August 19, 2021, OPPO's head of Image, Simon Liu, showcased the company's latest developments in smartphone camera technology during the 'Future Imaging Event'. The event marked the world photography day, celebrated annually on August 19.
OPPO has consistently been at the forefront of reporting innovations and mechanical improvements in its products. The company has provided specific dates for the release of these technologies, aiming to make a significant impact in the photography sector.
The first development centers around a telephoto lens with continuous optical zoom, allowing for sharp images at various mid-lengths without the need for additional equipment. This feature will significantly enhance the cameras' adaptability, color rendering, and white balance.
The second development involves a five-pivot optical image stabilization (OIS) system, which receives and analyzes data from the gyroscope before communicating it to the picture sensor and lens. This advancement offers multiple times the vibration compensation compared to conventional OIS systems, set to be implemented in the first quarter of 2022.
Lastly, the third development focuses on the RGBW picture sensor, which adds white subpixels to increase light sensitivity by 60%. This improvement enables better performance in low-light conditions, expected to be introduced in the fourth quarter of 2021.
