On August 21, 2021, a significant breakthrough was made in the investigation into the procurement of medical seats in Pakistan for Jammu and Kashmir students.

According to Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, Dilbagh Singh, four people have been arrested in connection with procuring MBBS seats for students from Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistan via Hurriyat and terror funding.

The arrested individuals include Mohammed Akbar Bhat alias Zafar Bhat, chairman of the salvation movement, Fatima Shah, Mohammed Abdullah Shah, and Shabzar Ahmed Sheikh.

Brother of Mohammed Abdullah Shah had traveled to Pakistan in the 1990s and was working as a facilitator for Hurriyat, as revealed by Dilbagh Singh.

Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
