On August 21, 2021, Deputy President William Ruto emphasized the need for the political class to focus on delivering the Big 4 national development agenda, specifically highlighting healthcare and housing reforms as key priorities.
Speaking at his official residence in Karen, Ruto commended the Court of Appeal's judgment upholding the invalidation of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) constitution review process, urging leaders to make up for lost time and resources.
"We must urgently retrace our path to the Big 4 Agenda, which aimed at creating millions of jobs for our young people, rejuvenating our agriculture for food security, and securing the health of millions of our citizens through Universal Health Care," Ruto stated.
As part of his efforts to expedite the Big 4 Agenda, Ruto revealed that he had engaged with legislators to fast-track amendments aligned with the agenda's projects and initiatives, including the NHIF Act and the Housing Act.
He emphasized the need to create a legislative framework to facilitate the mobilization of resources necessary to transform agricultural production, achieve food security, and create a surplus for diversified agro-processing and manufacturing.
