On August 21, 2021, a gruesome discovery was made in Kagaa village, Kenol Maragua, Murang'a county, when students found a mutilated body of a middle-aged woman dumped near Kagaa Secondary School.

The body, wrapped in a sack, was discovered by students who were on their way to school and alerted their neighbours and teachers.

Residents, including Mary Wanjiru and Joseph Maina, described the scene as horrific, with the body cut into three pieces and a trail of blood leading to the main Kenol-Murang'a road.

‘We looked closely and saw it was a human body which had been wrapped in a sack,’ Mary Wanjiru said.

‘The body has been cut along the waistline, slightly above the chest and the pieces wrapped together in a sack,’ Joseph Maina added.

Further, he said they suspect that the woman had been killed elsewhere and her body dumped there, with the trail of blood disappearing when they reached the main road.

The incident has instilled fear among the residents, with Margaret Wanja saying, ‘We are scared because we don’t know who did this and why and if they could also be targeting any of us here.’

The residents have urged police officers to beef up security in the area and conduct speedy investigations into the matter.

The body was moved to Murang’a County mortuary awaiting postmortem.
