On August 21, 2021, Amref donated essential equipment to support reproductive health in Garissa County, Kenya.
The donation, valued at a significant contribution to the county's healthcare agenda, includes 100 mama kits, 4 examination couches, 4 ward screens, 10 hemoglobin meters, 2 medical trolleys, 10 fetal dopplers, 10 delivery packs, 10 delivery beds, 200 maternity pads, 100 mosquito nets, and 2 vacuum extractors.
Health Chief Officer Hassan Anshur received the equipment and expressed gratitude to Amref for the donation, stating that it will aid in boosting the county's healthcare services.
He emphasized the importance of the partnership between Amref and the county in reducing maternal and infant deaths and addressing reproductive health concerns among mothers in the county.
Amref's Project Officer for Safe Motherhood, Galgalo Golicha, noted that the donation was meant to support reproductive health indicators affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He urged residents to choose hospital deliveries over unskilled home deliveries, which pose a risk of fistula to mothers.
