City Lawyer Charged with Stealing from Client

On August 21, 2021, Nairobi Times reported on a city lawyer who was charged with stealing from a client.

Catherine Wairimu Mugo, an advocate, appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku facing theft charges.

She is accused of stealing Sh3, 995, 000 on diverse dates between January 5 and June 4, 2015, at Equity Bank's Kenyatta Avenue branch in Nairobi.

The court heard that Wambugu trusted her as an advocate but stole the money.

She was released on a bond of Sh500,000 or an alternative cash bail of Sh200,000.

The prosecution has listed three witnesses to testify against the lawyer.
