On July 22, 2021, detectives from the Homicide and Forensic department exhumed the body of a 12-year-old girl suspected to be one of the five minors abducted, defiled, and killed by Evans Juma Wanjala, the self-confessed Moi's Bridge serial killer.
The exhumation exercise, which lasted three hours, took place at the girl's grandparent's home in Karara-Nyakinyua, Moi's Bridge, in the presence of family and neighbours.
The body was buried on June 24, 2020, after the decomposing body parts were found on June 18, 2020, at Soronoi Farm. However, the body parts were not subjected to postmortem or DNA tests before burial, according to the DCI.
Wanjala, who is set to appear in court on Monday, has confessed to defiling and killing four other children. He was captured on CCTV footage with his latest victim, 13-year-old Linda Cherono, occasioning his arrest and stay in custody since June 16, 2021.
Cherono went missing on June 11, 2021, and her body was found on June 15 near Baharini Dam. All the bodies had evidence of defilement.
