On July 3, 2019, the body of former Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore was cremated in a private ceremony at the Hindu Shamshan Bhumi Cremation Centre in Kariokor, Nairobi.

Collymore's remains were incinerated at a temperature of between 1,000 to 2,000 degrees Celsius, according to The Star.

Family members, close friends, and a few invited guests, including Safaricom staff, witnessed the ceremony.

Police officers were stationed at the crematorium's entrance to ensure the event remained private.

Collymore, 61, had passed away at his Nairobi home on July 2, 2019, after a long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a type of cancer that starts in the blood-forming cells of the bone marrow.

His wife, Wambui Kamiru, and their four children, were left to mourn his loss.

Former Safaricom CEO Michael Joseph has been appointed to replace Collymore in an acting capacity, while a memorial service in honor of Collymore is set to be held later that week.
