Published on July 3, 2019, Conseslus Kipruto, the world and Olympic champion, is working towards a full recovery from a foot injury that has kept him out of international competitions since the start of the track and field season.
Despite being sidelined, Kipruto remains optimistic about his chances of returning to the track soon. In a recent interview, he expressed his hope to recover well and compete in the next IAAF Diamond League leg in July.
‘I hope to recover well soon so that I can go back to competition. As you know, I had a foot injury which has made me not to compete in any major races but am hoping by the time we reach the next IAAF Diamond League leg, by then I would have tested myself in other races,’ said Kipruto.
Although he couldn't reveal which specific race he would use to gauge his fitness, Kipruto assured that he would be ready before the world championships in Doha, scheduled for September.
Before the Monaco Diamond League, Kipruto plans to run in other races to assess his fitness and determine if he has fully recovered. He will work closely with his management to identify suitable races to measure his fitness level and body condition.
As a world champion in London in 2017, Kipruto is confident in his physical shape but acknowledges the need to work hard and train well to return to a competitive regime.
