Published on July 2, 2019, Nyeri MP Wambugu Ngunjiri has sparked controversy by demanding the resignation of Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri.
According to Wambugu, Kiunjuri's alleged misuse of government projects for political gain has left a sour taste in the mouths of Nyeri residents.
Wambugu made the call through his Facebook page, urging Kiunjuri to step down and join him in the political arena.
"The Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri should resign, let us do politics together," Wambugu wrote.
The two politicians had a heated exchange on June 29, after a group of youths from the Kieleweke faction disrupted a meeting attended by Kiunjuri, who is believed to be a member of the Tangatanga faction.
Wambugu accused Kiunjuri of using government projects to gain political mileage in the region.
"We will not allow government officials to use government projects for political gain in this region," Wambugu said, as he was cheered on by the Kieleweke youths.
