On July 2, 2019, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) handed over a cheque worth Sh50 million to the Kenya Motor Sport and Federation (KMSF) Chairman Phineas Kimathi, in support of the 2019 Safari Rally competition.
This contribution brings the total amount donated by KCB to Sh75 million, with Sh25 million already allocated to KNRC and motor cross sponsorships.
According to Angela Mwirigi, KCB's communication and marketing manager, the bank has a long-standing partnership with the Kenya National Rally Championship, spanning 17 years.
‘Partnership is very critical because it prepares Kenyan drivers to be strong. We are committed to supporting the sporting sector, with an annual allocation of at least Sh230 million,’ Mwirigi explained.
The Safari Rally, which will serve as the fourth round of the African Rally Championship, is set to take place from July 5 to 7, 2019, covering a distance of 796.86 kilometers across Nairobi, Kiambu, and Nakuru counties.
The competition has attracted 51 drivers from various countries, including Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Belgium, Zambia, and Italy, with Toyota, Hyundai, and Ford set to showcase their brands.
