On July 2, 2019, Premier League giants Arsenal announced the signing of Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano Futebol Clube.
Martinelli, an 18-year-old forward, made tremendous progress since making his debut at the Sao Paulo-based club in 2017, scoring 10 goals from 34 appearances in all competitions.
The Brazilian national team also recognized Martinelli's development, calling him up to the full squad for a training camp in May ahead of the Copa America.
He was voted as the 2019 Best Newcomer and a member of the 2019 Team of the Year for the Campeonato Paulista, the football league for the state of Sao Paulo.
According to a club statement, Martinelli will shortly join up with his new teammates for pre-season training after the deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
