Published on August 11, 2021, the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) Limited has announced an interruption of water supply in a section of estates within Nairobi.
The shutdown will affect customers served from the Dagoretti and Uthiru reservoirs, with the company preparing to pipe more water to Karen and other areas through the Kabete-Uthiru-Karen pipeline when the Northern Collector Tunnel water project is completed this December.
According to NCWSC Managing Director Engineer Nahashon Muguna, the water shut down will facilitate installation of suction mains and delivery headers for Dagoretti and Uthiru pumps at Kabete Pumping Station and commissioning of two new pumps to boost water from Kabete reservoirs to Uthiru Reservoir.
The estates to be affected include Upper Kabiria, Mithonge, Kamwaya, Kahuho, Ngina and Kikuyu Roads and parts of Gatanga Road, Amboseli Road, Suna Estate, Sohill City Estates and its environs, Kawangware 56 and 46, Congo, lower parts of Macharia road and environs and Ndwaru Rod and environs, Riruta satellite, Kagondo, Muhuru Rd, Waithaka Road and environs, Uthiru, Mountain View Estate, Kangemi, Thiongo Road and its environs, and the whole of Karen, Waithaka, Gachui, Kirigo, Dagoretti Market, Mariguini and its environs.
