On July 1, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko took to Facebook to offer condolences to the family of Bob Collymore, the late Safaricom CEO.
While expressing his sympathy, Sonko shared a somber message with his followers, reminding them that death is a universal fate that awaits everyone.
"Rest in peace Bob Collymore. God be with you till we meet again," Sonko wrote.
He added, "Sisi sote hapa kwa social media na ujuaji wetu sote ni MAITI WATARAJIWA coz we must all die mmoja moja siku ikifika."
As Kenyans joined Sonko in mourning the loss of Bob Collymore, the Safaricom CEO was laid to rest at the crematorium in Kariokor, with only family and close friends in attendance.
