Published on July 2, 2019, a recent opinion poll by Infotrak has shed light on the sentiments of Kenyans regarding the country's direction.
According to the poll, 48% of respondents believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction, with the high cost of living, corruption, and high unemployment rates being the primary reasons cited.
Infotrak Managing Director Angela Ambitho released the poll results in Nairobi, stating that 34% of Kenyans feel the country is on the right path, while 14% are unsure of the nation's direction.
Interestingly, 55% of those interviewed credited President Kenyatta for steering the country in the right direction, while 17% attributed it to the efforts of both President Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
On the other hand, 26% blamed President Kenyatta for the country being headed in the wrong path, while 15% placed the blame on all political leaders.
The main issues of concern to Kenyans include unemployment (29%), high cost of living (21%), corruption (16%), insecurity/crime (5%), and food security (4%).
Regarding the recently unveiled 3.02 trillion budget, 58% of Kenyans expressed dissatisfaction, while 17% were contented, and 25% remained unsure.
The poll also revealed that the Jubilee Party is the most popular political outfit, followed by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and Wiper.
Infotrak conducted the poll in June, interviewing 1048 respondents from across 24 counties.
