On July 2, 2019, Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) launched a series of events called PassionEnt, aimed at providing budding entrepreneurs with financial advisory sessions through its digital banking service, Loop.
PassionEnt is a networking platform that brings together like-minded individuals to share their experiences and learn from each other's successes and failures.
During the first event, held at Garden City Loop Store, CBA partnered with Centonomy to provide expert financial advice to customers. The event featured a performance by Kenyan afro-pop band Sauti Sol, who shared their stories of turning their passion into a profitable enterprise.
“The purpose of these events is to network and provide expert financial advice in partnership with Centonomy,” said Eric Muriuki, CBA’s General Manager – New Business Ventures (NBV). “Hearing about the business experiences from successful entrepreneurs like Sauti Sol will drive them to continue pursuing their passion and provide them with the necessary tools to grow their business into prosperous enterprises.”
According to Eric Muriuki, the event reached a wider audience via livestream, with over 100 customers in attendance. The event featured interactive sessions, inspiring true-life stories, and discussions on how to manage finances as an entrepreneur.
“The clear separation between business and personal finances while you grow your side hustle to enterprise instils the necessary discipline required and is one of the key steps for a successful business,” said Bien from Sauti Sol.
Launched in March 2017, Loop is a digital banking service that allows customers to open accounts online, access loans of up to Ksh.3 Million, and set up savings goals to achieve short and long-term aspirations.
