Published on July 2, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in south-west London when the body of a suspected stowaway fell from a Kenya Airways plane.
According to police, the victim fell into a property in Clapham from the landing gear compartment of a plane heading to Heathrow Airport.
A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, described the incident, stating: "At first, I thought it was a tramp asleep in the garden. He had all of his clothes on and everything."
However, upon closer inspection, the neighbour noticed blood all over the walls of the garden and realized the victim had fallen.
"His head was not in a good way," the neighbour said. "I had a closer look and saw there was blood all over the walls of the garden."
Police found a bag, water, and some food in the landing gear compartment of the plane once it arrived at Heathrow.
Officers are now working to identify the victim, who is believed to have been an illegal immigrant attempting to enter the country by climbing into the undercarriage bay of the aircraft.
Aviation expert Alastair Rosenschein stated that the problem of stowaways occurs due to a lack of security at airports and immigration issues.
