On July 2, 2019, Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ users in some countries started receiving the July 2019 security update.

According to reports, the update not only upgrades the security patch level to July 2019 but also adds support for scanning QR codes using the camera app.

While the update has already been rolled out in some European countries, it has not yet arrived in Kenya. However, Samsung is expected to make the update available in Kenya later this month.

When the update arrives, users can look out for software version G950FXXU5DSFB for the S8 and G955FXXU5DSFB for the S8+.

It's worth noting that the Galaxy S9 and Note 8 have also received this feature in their latest updates, although they have not yet been made available in Kenya.
