Nigerian Pastor Steps Down Amid Rape Allegations

Published on July 2, 2019

Biodun Fatoyinbo, the flamboyant pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly church in Abuja, Nigeria, has stepped aside from his pulpit following allegations of rape.

According to Busola Dakolo, a celebrity photographer, Fatoyinbo allegedly raped her twice before she turned 18. The first incident occurred at her father's house, while the second took place along a secluded road.

Following the accusations, protesters gathered outside various branches of Fatoyinbo's church on Sunday, holding placards with the message 'thou shall not rape.'

In a statement, Fatoyinbo said he was taking a leave of absence from the pulpit, citing it as the right thing to do.
