Published on July 2, 2019, a man claiming to be the biological father of George Saitoti's son has asked the High Court to conduct a DNA test to determine the truth behind the paternity row.
Sebastian Maina Ngunju, who has been embroiled in a row over Zachary Musengi for the last seven years, claims that Musengi was abducted in unknown circumstances and ended up being Saitoti's son.
However, in June 2017, the Court of Appeal judges Philip Waki, Patrick Kiage, and Roselyn Nambuye concluded that Musengi was not Ngunju's son, and the matter was deemed withdrawn through a mutual understanding by both parties in July 2013.
Despite this, Ngunju is now seeking a DNA test to lay the matter to rest, citing the need to ascertain the truth and protect his family's constitutional rights.
He claims that his late wife Elizabeth gave birth to their third-born son in September 1985, but the child went missing in 1988. Ngunju alleges that he saw a boy resembling his son on television during a live broadcast of Saitoti's requiem mass in 2012.
"On July 15, 2012, during the requiem mass for the late Prof George Saitoti, I saw a boy by the name Zachary Musengi Saitoti in television during a live broadcast seated next to Mrs Saitoti. After a close look, I realized he bore likeness and similitude of other siblings in his custody," Ngunju stated in court papers.
