Published on July 2, 2019, Kenya's Harambee Stars were dealt a crushing 3-0 defeat by Senegal in their Africa Cup of Nations group stage match.

However, despite this setback, the team's chances of progressing to the knockout stage are not entirely lost.

Kenya's fate now rests on the results of Angola and Benin's last group fixtures, scheduled for Tuesday.

According to the competition rules, the top two teams in each of the six groups automatically qualify for the knockout stage.

Additionally, four third-placed teams with the best tally will also secure a spot in the knockout stage.

Kenya finished third in Group 'C', behind Algeria and Senegal, but ahead of Tanzania.

However, in the battle for the best loser spot, Kenya occupies the fourth position, behind Guinea, DR Congo, and South Africa.

Angola and Benin, who are currently fifth and sixth, respectively, have each played a game less.

Angola will face Mali, while Cameroon will host Benin. If either of them win or draw, Kenya's hopes of progressing will be eliminated.
