On July 2, 2019, a private ceremony was held at the Kariokor cemetery in Nairobi to bid farewell to Bob Collymore, the former CEO of Safaricom.

As per his wishes, only close family members and friends were allowed to attend the somber event.

Collymore's body was taken from the Lee Funeral Home, where it had been preserved, at around 10 am.

Security officers barred Kenyans who attempted to gain access to the crematorium, allowing only listed individuals to enter.

Collymore had passed away the previous day after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones in his Nairobi home.
