On July 1, 2019, Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore was laid to rest in a private ceremony at the Kariokor Crematorium, surrounded by tight security.

Collymore had passed away at his Nairobi home after a long battle with cancer, as revealed by his family.

According to his wishes, Collymore was taken to Lee Funeral Home and quickly cremated, maintaining his desire for a private life even in death.

A hearse bearing Collymore's body left Lee Funeral Home for Kariakor, where only family members and close friends were allowed entry due to heavy police security.

Collymore had prepared his family for his death, which doctors had told him he'd be lucky to survive until July due to his leukemia condition.

A memorial service will be held in his honor.
