On July 2, 2019, Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore's body was cremated at Kariokor cemetery, marking the end of a life that had been cut short by illness.

According to those who knew him, Bob had been told by his doctors that he did not have long to live, and had made arrangements for his cremation to be carried out quickly using electric cremation.

Speaking to Jeff Koinange, Bob had confessed to being aware of his mortality, saying that he had been told not to make any long-term plans and that if he made it past July, he would be lucky.

Despite being a man of means, Bob lived a quiet and simple life, and it was evident at the cemetery where only a handful of people were present to witness the cremation.

Among those who attended the cremation were friends and family, including Silvya Mulinge and Wambui Kamiru, who have been identified as being present.
