On July 2, 2019, Bob Collymore, the former CEO of Safaricom, was laid to rest in a private cremation ceremony at Kariokor cemetery, attended by family, close friends, and allies.

However, a Kenyan politician was left in shock after being blocked from attending the ceremony by security officers who refused to open the gate for him.

The officer in charge explained that only those on the list were permitted to enter the ceremony, leaving the politician to reverse and let others pass.

Radio Africa CEO Patrick Quarcoo shared a poignant moment with Bob Collymore in his final days, where he made them smile with his words about the afterlife.

"I don’t know about this heaven and earth thing, but I truly hope there is a life after death," Bob Collymore said, according to Patrick Quarcoo.

He also joked about coming back to rustle the curtains and help blow out candles on his children's birthdays if there were ghosts.

Quarcoo recalled Bob Collymore's calm words, "If I get three more days, I will be lucky," and his advice to stay together and stand by Wambui.
