Safaricom Appoints Michael Joseph as Interim CEO

On July 1, 2019, Safaricom's board held a special meeting to discuss the future of the company after the passing of CEO Bob Collymore.

During the meeting, the board appointed Michael Joseph, a former CEO of Safaricom and current chairman of Kenya Airways, as the interim CEO.

According to a press release, Joseph will provide guidance and leadership to the company and its employees until a permanent CEO is appointed.

Joseph's appointment was made possible by his existing role as a board member at Safaricom.

"The board is confident that during this transition, Mr. Joseph will provide the necessary guidance and leadership to the company and its employees," a statement from Safaricom read.
