On July 2, 2019, Pezesha emerged as the winner of the Kenyan chapter of the Seedstars Startup Competition, a prestigious award that recognizes innovative startups in emerging markets.
The digital financial marketplace, which facilitates credit scoring and affordable credit for the unbanked, was selected as the overall winner from a pool of 13 startups. Pezesha's innovative solution connects borrowers with lenders, providing a sustainable and accessible financial service.
As the winner, Pezesha will participate in the Seedstars Africa Summit and has the opportunity to attend the global Seedstars Summit in Switzerland. The Summit is a week-long training program that brings together winners from fast-growing economies, investors, and mentors from around the world.
Workpay, a startup that offers employee management and payment solutions using biometrics and mobile phones, came in second, while Tanda, a fintech startup that provides digital financial services to MSMEs, took third place.
Seedstars World will next visit Accra, Ghana, to select the best startup in the country as part of its global tour of emerging markets.
