On June 30, a shocking incident occurred at London's Heathrow Airport when the body of a Kenyan stowaway fell from a Kenya Airways flight moments before it landed.
The deceased, a Kenyan national, had reportedly sneaked onto the plane and hidden in the undercarriage. The body landed in a garden in the Borough of Lambeth, South London.
Kenya Airways confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that the body had no identification. The airline stated that the body was found in the garden after the owner called authorities to collect it.
The incident has raised concerns about the risks of stowing away on aircraft. Once in the undercarriage, individuals are exposed to numerous risks, including freezing to death, asphyxiation due to lack of oxygen, and the likelihood of plunging to death when the landing gear is engaged.
Fortunately, the incident did not result in any damage to the aircraft, suggesting that the deceased was attempting to flee the country.
Kenya Airways has clarified that no part of the aircraft was damaged in the incident, indicating that the deceased was simply looking for a route out of the country.
